Mostar will be the host of this years regional round of the European BEST Engineering Competition – EBEC Balkan. The regional round will take place from the 5th to the 7th of May. This would be the first time BEST Mostar organizes an engineering competition of this size and manner. Let’s get to know them a little better because the competition is near.
BEST Mostar is the first, and currently the only, BEST branch in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was officially recognized as an official BEST group in September 2012, a year after they were formed. At the moment, they have over 30 active members, all students of the “Džemal Bijedić” University.
During those 5 years, BEST Mostar organized 4 local EBEC rounds, 3 student courses (the 4th is in its preparation stage). Other than these, BEST Mostar organized 6 local events and, during the course of last year, we organized 5 engineering students related activities of the University.
Mostar is a student – friendly town with a good climate situation and preferably the most hospitable community in the Balkans. It’s positioned on the Neretva river, making it the cultural and commercial center of Herzegovina and, at the same time, its largest city. One of the most famous heritage cites of the city is the Old Bridge which, together with the Old Town district, is under the UNESCO’s cultural heritage protection act since 2005.
We are yet to witness how will Mostar rock EBEC Balkan. The Core Team is comprised of students from Niš, Novi Sad, Podgorica, Belgrade and, of course, Mostar. They are working on making this the best EBEC Balkan yet. Stay tuned!
